On a cloudy Saturday afternoon, the #19 Oregon Ducks(9-4) played anything but gloomy against the Arizona State Sundevils(12-4). It all started on the mound, where junior righty Cullen Kafka put together yet another spectacular pitching performance together for the Ducks pitching staff. He set or matched career highs with 7 innings pitched, 11 strikeouts on 106 pitches for his start. He also did not walk anyone or allow a run, while only giving up 4 hits. His performance today lowers his season ERA all the way down to a minuscule 0.32. Offensively, the Ducks got off to a slow start, but Kenyon Yovan got things rolling with his 6th home run of the year, this time a 2-run shot down the left field line. Later, Gabe Matthews would contribute his own 2-run home run to dead center. Other contributors include Aaron Zavala, who walked 3 times, and Sam Novitske, who drove in 2 runs.
The Ducks will look to take the series against the #23 Sundevils tomorrow at noon.
