On a Friday evening match up at PK Park against the Milwaukee Panthers for the first time in program history, Gabe Matthews ended things in exciting fashion in extra innings for the 6-4 Ducks win.
Starting pitcher Cullen Kafka got off to a great start for the Ducks, before allowing three runs in the 6th inning, as he started to show signs of fatigue. He finished the game with 5.2 innings pitched, 3 earned runs, 4 strikeouts, and a walk. The bullpen did an excellent job keeping the team in the game, only giving up one run over the final 5.1 innings, and giving the team a chance to win it.
The big story of the night was obviously Gabe Matthews winning the game in the 11th with a deep bomb to right center field to win it, but true freshman center fielder Anthony Hall had a great night as well, going 2-5 with a triple and his first career home run. He also added 2 RBI and 2 runs scored to give the Ducks a massive offensive boost.
The Ducks play again at PK Park on Saturday for a double-header against Milwaukee starting at 1 pm and game 2 scheduled for 5 pm.
