Ducks scored 4 runs in the first inning and did not look back as they went on to defeat the #2 seed Gonzaga Bulldogs 7-3 to advance to the Eugene Regional Championship tomorrow.
It only took 2 runs of production for the Ducks to put up 7 runs. They put up the aforementioned 4 spot in the first and then a 3 spot in the fourth inning with a Zavala RBI double and a 2 run blast from Gabe Matthews.
The Ducks starting pitcher Robert Ahlstrom was yet again the victor. He went 8 innings, giving 7 hits for 3 runs (which all came in the third). The Eugene native escaped some early trouble, including a 1 out bases loaded jam in the fifth inning.
Oregon will face the winner of the LSU-Gonzaga rematch tomorrow at 7 pm here at PK Park.
