BSB | Arizona State swings for the fences while Oregon sputters

After only scoring 7 total runs last weekend against Washington, Oregon(11-8, 1-3 Pac-12) was looking for an offensive rejuvenation. Instead, they were shut out until the 9th inning, at which point the game was already put away, losing 12-2. They mustered only three hits in the first seven innings, and Sundevils starter Alec Marsh shut them down, despite issuing five walks and only four strikeouts. Offensively, the Ducks did a good job staying patient and taking the walks when there were no good pitches to hit. Spencer Steer had the best day offensively, going 1-2 with a double and two walks. The shortstop also made some nice plays on the defensive end.

Starter Cullen Kafka(5.97 ERA) managed to keep Arizona State(21-0, 4-0 Pac-12) down the first couple innings, but for the second start in a row, he began to fade in the later innings, giving up two runs in the third and three runs in the fourth. His velocity took a hit as his pitch count went up, going from 93-94 mph to the 87-89 mph range. He also struggled with his command, walking four hitters and giving up three home runs. He did manage to keep the ball on the ground when he didn't make mistakes, piling up six ground outs, including a clutch double play in the first.

For Arizona State, they remain the only team in the nation to remain unbeaten. Centerfielder Hunter Bishop lead the way to victory, going 2-4 with two home runs and a walk. First baseman Spencer Torkelson also hit one out, going 1-3 with two RBIs and two walks.
