Love is in the air! It's Valentine's Day Weekend. Whether you're sharing a box of chocolates with your loved ones or sharing an entire of box of chocolates with, well… yourself, no matter what, you'll be feeling the love through music this weekend. Here's what's going on around Eugene and KWVA:
It's Friday the 13th, and tonight, 6 bands are willing to test their luck. Ethos Magazine presents their 6th annual Bandest of The Bands at WOW Hall, featuring The Zendeavors, Face for Radio, Mellow Yellow, Human Ottoman, Dr. Rocket, and Yamayama. The 'bandest' of the bands will win a spot at this year's UO Campus Block Party. KWVA will be there with live coverage, so if you prefer to stay indoors on this 'unlucky' Friday, you are more than welcome to tune into 88.1 FM. But if you're feeling brave, doors open at 6 pm!
For V-day itself, you've got two options. For the EDM-savvy, check out Valentines Day at Cozmic featuring Sound Remedy, Disco Lemonade, Toxik, and Bizio. Sound Remedy is known for his unique and buoyant tracks that will inevitably leave you thinking you look good on the dance floor. For a chill, romantic vibe, head over to WOW Hall to check out Wild Child, Desert Noises, and Goodnight, Texas. Their clever lyrics and acoustic-driven sets are bound to make your heart skip a beat.
To round out the weekend, Andy Shauf will be playing at Cozmic Sunday evening. His songs tell ghostly tales about life on the Canadian prairie, through an entrancing mix of folk and refined pop, with a dash of Blind Pilot-esque melancholy.
Did you forget a Valentine's gift for your significant other? Don't worry, KWVA may be able to help you out. Call 541-346-0645 to request 'your song' to play on air. There are no guarantees if we can make it happen, but if you've got nothing else, it's worth a shot to make them swoon.
Have a lovely weekend, listeners! KWVA <3's you.
