Today, the spotlight is shining down on DJ STORMBORN of Road Trip to Anywhere! Read on to find out how she does it, and how she does it so well.
DJ name: DJ STORMBORN, First of her name, the unburnt, eater of burritos
Show title and time: Road Trip to Anywhere, 4-6 pm Fridays, Spring 2015
Hometown: SE Portland, OR
Show genres and/or description: Two hours of music connected not by genre or time period but by place, whether it’s the hometown of the artists‘ or a famous venue or the perfect soundtrack for driving at night in the city.
Artists commonly played on show: I play Kurt Vile’s Walking on a Pretty Day when I have to run and pee.
How long have you been a DJ? Since Summer of 2014
How did you get involved with KWVA?
I was friends with Oliver, the current Programming director and would listen to his show and then that summer during the annual DJ drought I got involved myself.
Tell us your favorite moment/memory as a DJ:
Frog, the prolific joke book author and classic Eugene personality called me a couple weeks ago to inform me they still make Tiger Milk Bars. I also loved playing Taylor Swift on Kdub- I love that this station is so counter/sub culture I’m forced into the mainstream in my moments of subversiveness.
What makes your show unique?
The second hour is probably the most pre-empted slot for Sports coverage of the Softball spring season, which I always preface with my campaign to cover live-Badminton. I also play the Asthma PSA often because I have asthma.
Any influences for your show or as a DJ?
Alec Baldwin’s voice. Never winning anything when I called into Radio Disney as a preteen.
Anything else you’d like the world to know about you as a DJ?
Nope, thanks for tuning in!
