SB: Oregon defeats Drake 5-0 behind Kleist’s dominant day

The No. 1 seed Oregon softball team returned to action Friday to take on Drake for its second game of the Eugene regional. Pac-12 pitcher of the year Megan Kleist led the Ducks to a 5-0 win over the Bulldogs and secured her team a spot in the regional championship. Kleist was one out away from a perfect game, striking out 11. The game had an incredibly similar feel as yesterday’s win over Albany, as Oregon led 2-0 heading in the fifth. Just like yesterday, Lauren Burke pinch-hit for Shannon Rhodes and hit a 2-run home run to give the Ducks a 4-0 lead. Oregon will need to wait to find out who wins tonight’s game at 8 p.m., but should feel confident no matter who occupies the away dugout given the recent performances by both Kleist and Miranda Elish.
