Saturday April 11th, 2015

Both Men’s and Women’s teams of Oregon took away winning scores at today’s Pepsi invitational against University of Kentucky and University of Washington.
The Men’s team won 162, Kentucky had 115 and Washington had 110

Sophomore, Marcus Chambers showed out for the Men’s team as well winning the 200, 400 and his 4×4 relay for the Ducks.

Edward Chesarek, Tim Jenkins and Will Geoghegan finished the men’s 5000m together in first, second and third place, all crossing at 14:00.

The Ducks were not shaken by their close losses. The first in the Men’s Steeple Chase where Oregon’s Tanguy Pepiot was winning until the last few feet, when he began to tell the crowd to cheer louder as Washington’s Meron Simon Buzzed past him, beating him .

The second close loss came as Sam Crouser took second place in Javeline by mere centimeters to Raymond Dykstra, a complete reverse of what happened at NCAA Nationals.

The Men’s 4×1 relay with Charles Nelson and Tony Brooks-James did not see as much success today, they were disqualified due to a dropped baton. However; both saw success  in other events, Brooks-James took first in the 100 and Nelson took second in long jump.

The Women’s Team won with 138, followed by Kentucky with 124 and Washington with 119.

The Oregon Women saw a lot of success in their field events.

Jenna Prandini for the Ducks scored winning points with her 21′ 1/2″ jump in the Women’s long jump.

Lauren Crockett was able to place first in the High Jump Final at 1.78 meters.

Jasmine Todd and Sasha Wallace took first and second place in the long jump. Todd also had third in the Women’s long jump.

The women’s 4×1 Relay with Wallace, Todd, Prandini and Sant came in a close second to Kentucky at 44.44. And the 4×4 Relay with an even closer second place, came in at 3:36:89 to Kentucky’s 3:36:51.

Coach Johnson was pleased with the sweep on the meet but see’s obvious areas of improvement, especially in those close losses for the Men’s and Women’s teams.
