STORY: Oregon Volleyball Crumbles Against Washington State, Loses 3-0

Written Story (by Ryan Milano)

The Oregon Ducks headed into Matthew Knight Arena on Sunday with execution on the mind. Unfortunately for Oregon, they didn’t bring the execution to the hardwood and were swept in straight sets for the first time this season. The Washington State Cougars came into Eugene with a nine-set winning streak, and despite the Ducks being ranked as the #14 team in the country, the Cougars didn’t want to see an end to their streak.

The two teams were very competitive in sets one and two, but Jen Greeny’s Cougars were the aggressor late in sets going on a 4-0 run to close out the first set and overcame a 17-19 deficit to secure set number two. Oregon came out flat in set three, and Washington walked out of Matthew Knight Arena with their fourth consecutive sweep.

Oregon has now lost their last six sets, including Thursday’s reverse sweep loss to Washington. The Ducks are looking to right the ship against another Pac-12 titan as Oregon travels to Los Angeles next week to face the UCLA Bruins next Friday at 7:00
