#13 Oregon Volleyball Sweeps Oregon State in Rivalry Series Matchup

By Knight Jarecki

Students packed Matthew Knight Arena and made some noise as the #13 Oregon Ducks Volleyball team swept their cross-state rivals the Oregon State Beavers 3-0 (25-10, 25-14, and 26-24) in the match of conference play.

Oregon was able to dominate from the start and ended the first set on a 17-4 run including a 4-0 run to cap off the first set victory. The second set was more contested but the Ducks still prevailed despite trailing by 3 points early on. Oregon ended the second set on a 4-0 run just like the first set and Morgan Lewis had kills on the final two points. The 3rd set was a back and forward set that featured 7 ties including a monstrous draw at 24 points. The Ducks then were able to come out victorious as a service error by Oregon State and a service ace by Oregon solidified the win for the Ducks.

Brooke Nuneviller finished with a double-double in the winning effort by totaling 11 kills and 10 digs in her return from an ankle sprain. Karson Bacon was efficient totaling 9 kills on 11 swings for a 0.818 hitting percentage. Taylor Borup also impressed all over the floor as she finished with 10 digs, 7 kills, 3 aces, 2 assists, and a block. Becca Morse also did a stellar job filling in at the libero position for an injured Georgia Murphy totaling 20 digs and 3 assists.

The Ducks improve to (10-1) on the season and (1-0) in Pac 12 play. Oregon will travel south to Tempe for a showdown with the Arizona State Sun Devils (7-4) on Sunday.
