Story: Oregon Softball Dominates Boise State and Portland State in Sunday Double Header

By Alex Roth

The Oregon Ducks picked up dominant wins by run-rule over Boise State and Portland State Sunday afternoon at Jane Saunders Stadium. The wins capped off a 4-0 weekend for Oregon in the Ducks first home-stand of the season and improved Oregon to 13-1 on the year.

The first game of the doubleheader saw Oregon take on the Boise State Broncos and fall behind early 1-0 before taking the lead right back in the bottom of the first. Brooke Yanez would have a solid outing on the mound before handing it off to Samaria Diaz to finish off the win. Haley Cruse, Allee Bunker, Mya Felder, and Hanna Delgado all stood out behind the plate as Oregon brought home 10 runs in 6 innings. Felder delivered the dagger, as her two run bomb in the bottom of the 6th clinched a mercy-rule run win for Oregon, with a final score of 10-2.

Oregon then began the second game of the day against the Portland State Vikings in absolutely dominant fashion, with the offense putting up 9 runs in the bottom of the first after a scoreless first inning pitched by Makenna Kliethermes. Alyssa Britto, Hanna Delgado, Rachel Cid, and Vallery Wong all stood out with multi hit games, with Delgado going deep for the first time in her Oregon career. Maddie Hopper also homered late for her first Oregon Home Run, to finish off a 16-0 Oregon win and absolutely dominant day for the Ducks behind the plate and at the mound.

Oregon will look to build on a fantastic weekend at home and great 13-1 start when they host Nevada, Sacramento State, and Oregon State next weekend. You can hear Jordan Brenner on the call for those games and find live coverage by KWVA on twitter.
