The 22-7 Oregon Ducks Men’s Basketball team faced off against the California Golden Bears on Thursday, in the Ducks 2nd to last game of the regular season and second to last home game of the year. Starting off strong, the Ducks stormed out to an early lead off a couple deep 3’s from Senior guard Payton Pritchard, and great shooting from Anthony Mathis. Oregon went into halftime with a 46-20 lead, and continued the onslaught in the 2nd half. The Ducks kept their shooting percentages above 50% after the break, and supplemented their offense and the lead with some great defense on the other end. The Ducks played hard through the final buzzer, and showed out in was a greatly needed performance for them. Oregon easily handled the Golden Bears, 90-56, thanks to a terrific team effort that produced multiple players in double figures and team shooting percentage around 60%.

Coach Dana Altman praised the team’s depth in the game stating that he thought everyone gave them a little something and mentioned the importance of getting 8 or 9 guys going. The Ducks set a Matthew Knight Arena record with their performance behind the line tonight, getting 70.6% of their long balls to fall in the easy victory. Oregon can clinch the 1st seed in the Pac-12 tournament on their home floor Saturday against Stanford, a feat not matched by the Men’s team since 1945.
