WBB | Oregon bounces back to with a win in a rematch of last seasons Sweet 16

The Oregon Ducks defeated the South Dakota State Jack Rabbits by a score of 95-56 in Matthew Knight Arena. The Ducks were coming off their first loss of the season against Louisville 72-62 in the Paradise Jam Island Division Tournament. Oregon has had plenty of time to prepare for the rematch against South Dakota State as they have had 8 days of rest since the loss in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Oregon won the match-up against the Jack Rabbits last year by a score of 63-53. The result was the same the second time around as Oregon thoroughly handled the Jack Rabbits 95-56. The Ducks jumped ahead early thanks to their defensive play which forced 13 turnovers and allowed Oregon to get easy baskets in transition. Oregon could not be stopped from beyond the arc as they shot 14-24 from downtown on 58% shooting as Holly Winterburn and Erin Boley were feeling it from deep with Winterburn scoring 5 3-pointers and Boley making 4. South Dakota State had no answer for the front court tandem of Ruthy Hebard and Satou Sabally as Hebard led all scorers with 22 points and Sabally contributed 16 to the winning effort. Despite the stellar play from the rest of the Oregon players it was Sabrina Ionescu who stole the show. Ionescu finished with 12 pts, 11 asts, 7 rebs, and broke the Oregon all-time 3 point scoring record.

The Ducks now prepare for a road test against Long Beach State in California, Saturday, December 14th as there are only 4 games remaining before the Ducks begin Pac-12 Conference play.
