SB | Shorthanded Ducks Walked-Off By Utah in 4-3 Loss

Oregon Softball is one loss from being eliminated from postseason contention, following their 4-3 loss to Utah on Friday, May 3 in Salt Lake City. The Utes struck for two runs in the bottom of the first, loading the bases with nobody out against Jordan Dail. Oregon’s inability to score from the same situation in the top of the first proved costly; the Ducks outhit the Utes 10-7, but were unable to strike during their best opportunity. While UO would tie on April Utecht’s fifth-inning two-run home run, BreOnna Castaneda sent Oregon packing on a two-out, 3-2 RBI chop-single to walk off. The Ducks, who were without Haley Cruse and Jasmine Sievers, return to play on Saturday at 11 AM PT, needing to win out to reach .500 and postseason eligibility. The Utes and Ducks take to the field on Sunday at 12PM PT for the rubber match.
