FB | Saturday’s Spring Game Showcases Oregon’s 2019 Potential

Oregon Football gave fans a first look at its 2019 team during Saturday’s spring game. Mighty Oregon (starting offense and second team defenders) took down the Fighting Ducks (starting defense and second team offense) 20-13. Justin Herbert led his squad passing 17-32 for 219 yards and two TD. New wide receiver Juwan Johnson caught three balls for 32 yards and a TD. CJ Verdell caught two passes for 72 yards, and Jaylon Redd caught the second TD that ultimately closed the game. Tyler Shough was impressive for the Fighting Ducks, throwing 18-31 for 178 yards. Cyrus Habibi-Likio ran it 12 times for 45 yards and a TD. 4 star freshman Mycah Pittman corralled 7 passes for 48 yards. The last play of the game was a one-handed interception by highly touted cornerback recruit Mykael Wright, who also had 5 tackles. Steve Stephens led the second team defense with 7 total tackles. Isaac Slade-Matautia led the starting defense with 6 tackles, followed by Verone Mckinley who made 5 stops. On the special teams side, Oregon kickers Zach Emerson and Camden Lewis went 4/4 on the day with short field goal attempts. Deommodore Lenoir showed his punt-returning abilities with an electric 46 yard run. Oregon Football will start its season on August 31st in Arlington, Texas against Auburn.
