SB | Ducks Strike First, Can’t Hold on in Loss to UCLA

Oregon came into Saturday’s bout with UCLA fresh of a victory against the No. 1 nationally ranked team, but the end result was different. While the Ducks struck first in the opening inning and retired the first six Bruin-batters, UCLA surged for three runs in third inning and five runs in the fourth to take an 8-1 lead. The usually reliable Oregon defense mustered three errors that resulted in three of the fifth-inning runs for UCLA. Freshman Jasmine Sievers served as a bright spot for Oregon’s offense, recording a hit all four times she came to the plate, but it was not enough and UCLA took game two of the series, 8-3.
