BSB | Oregon Falls to Fresno State 5-1

Halfway through their four-game stint against Fresno State (14-9), Oregon (16-12) came out on Friday night seeking redemption after their poor showing in the first game of the series. Robert Ahlstrom (3.79 ERA) took the mound for the Ducks boasting a team high four wins on the season. After only allowing two runs through 7 innings, Ahlstrom put the Ducks in a position to win. However, a bullpen breakdown gave the Bulldogs a 5-1 lead late in the game, which would eventually be the final score.

The last thing Oregon wanted was a continuation of their offensive struggles, but with only one run scored, that is exactly what it seemed to be. Before this series the Ducks had seven straight games with at least three runs scored. They have failed to reach that mark in two straight games. On Friday night that was largely due to Fresno State’s Ryan Jensen (3.57 ERA) who was torching batters with fastballs topping out at 98 mph. Though Jensen rarely used his other pitches, it was enough to keep the Oregon offense silent through six and a third innings until Taylor Adams came in for Oregon’s only run of the night.

Coming up next, Oregon continues their play against Fresno State on Saturday at 4 p.m. hoping to grab their first win of the four-game series
