WBB | Ionescu’s and Oregon’s Hot Shooting Secures Sweet Sixteen Bid

Sabrina Ionescu grabbed her 18th career triple-double and tied the program’s single tournament game record with 29 points as No. 2 seeded Oregon women’s basketball advanced to the 2019 NCAA Tournament’s Sweet Sixteen in a 91-68 win over No. 10 Indiana. Though the Hoosiers competed in the first half, even grabbing a lead in the second quarter, Indiana couldn’t contain Oregon, which shot an efficient 52% from the floor and hit 45% of its three-pointers. Defensively, the Ducks were opportunistic in turning 12 IU turnovers into 26 points the other way, which nicely canceled out its own 11 turnovers. Joining Ionescu in double figures was Satou Sabally, who tallied 19 points to go with 8 rebounds, and Erin Boley, who finished the night with 14 points on four made-threes. Now, Oregon awaits the winner of Syracuse-South Dakota State in the Portland Regional semi-final next weekend. Listen below to both sides’ reactions and a full game story.
