WBB: #4 Oregon Tops #14 Utah in Career Win 100 for Cazorla and Gildon

Oregon Women’s Basketball locked up career win number 100 for seniors Maite Cazorla and Oti Gildon. The #4 ranked Ducks battled #14 Utah for three quarters before a fourth quarter explosion game them a comfortable 87-65 win.

Oregon came out on fire in the 1st quarter with eight points from Ruthy Hebard and seven points from Satou Sabally. Utah knocked down three threes but trailed 22-11 after a quarter.

Oregon scrapped its way through the second quarter with an unexpected eight points from Oti Gildon. Utah’s Megan Huff buried three threes for 11 of Utah’s 16 in the 2nd quarter and 17 of her team’s 27 in the first half. Oregon led 37-27 at half.

Utah shot nearly 70% from the field in the third quarter behind a sensational 15 points by Megan Huff, bringing her total up to 32. Utah held a brief two point lead late in the third quarter before Oregon caught fire in the fourth.

Oregon rode a 27-9 fourth quarter to a comfortable victory, holding Huff to only five in the quarter and scoring 11 points on free throws. Oregon had all five starters scoring in double digits for the first time in Pac-12 play, including ten points off the bench from Oti Gildon. All five starters also saw their total field goal attempts fall between 9 and 11, providing the win behind a complete team performance. Oregon (9-0) remains flawless in Pac-12 play and will play next against Colorado (0-9) who is winless in conference.
