NCU MBB: NCU Stunned In Nail-Biter To NU

In a game that saw close action throughout, it only made sense to watch it go down to the wire: the Eagles defeating the Beacons 98-93. The Beacons started out on fire from downtown, shooting 5-8 within the first ten minutes of the first half. Tyrus Hosley led the way with six threes on 6-10 shooting, he scored a total of 28 points on the night. After a NCU 45-40 lead at the break, the Eagles decided to join in on the shooting successes. NU shot 18-28 in the second half, an impressive 64.3 percent. Three Eagle’s exceeded 20 points, Josh Meyer with 22, Hussayn Ford with 21, and Nick Navarro with 24. It really was the Eagles second half success at the free throw line that led them to their victory, making 18 of their 24 attempts. Aggressive takes to the hoop and getting the Beacons in foul trouble is what pushed them over the mark to fight out the tough victory. Other than free throws, the only stat line that stood out in the clear advantage of one team was rebounds, otherwise the game was very even across the board. NU out rebounded NCU 38 to 27, often getting multiple attempts at the rim per possession in the second half. Moving to 15-7, this marks the third game in a row the Beacons have lost after a tough two losses to The College of Idaho and Eastern Oregon. They look to bounce back Saturday in front of their home crowd when they face off against The Evergreen State College at 7:30 PM.
