MBB: Texas Southern Stuns Oregon 89-84 Behind Strong Second Half

Texas Southern upsets Oregon 89-84 behind a stellar second half by the Tigers. Oregon led 39-32 at the half, but a collective team effort by Texas Southern led to a 57 point second half comeback. The Tigers had four players in double digits, including Jones and Reed who ended with 23 and 20 respectively. Reed in particular led his team with 23 points going 9-9 from the field and 5-5 from the free throw line. In the second half, TSU shot 19-33 from the field,  55% from three, and 13-17 from the line. It was not until the 13 minute mark that Oregon found another player in double digits as Bol Bol led all scorers with 32 points, including 4-6 from the behind the arc. Kenny Wooten went down late in the first half which greatly impacted their front court play. The Ducks were out-rebounded 41-32 and turned the ball over 12 times, including several times late in games. Texas Southern avenged their 74-68 loss from a year ago and improve to 2-4 on the season, whereas the Oregon falls to 4-2 and will look to bounce back against a 4-0 University of Houston team on Saturday, December 1 at 8 pm.
