SB: Ducks Win Pac-12 Title With 2-0 Win in Berkeley

No. 2 Oregon Softball took the outright Pac-12 title Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 win, sweeping no. 24 Cal largely behind the efforts of a sophomore class that fell short of the title last year. Starting pitcher Maggie Balint went three scoreless innings before fellow sophomore Miranda Elish closed the shutout and earned the win. Offensively, Mia Camuso provided the runs, mashing a 2 RBI single to center field in the fourth inning against Cal starter Kamalani Dung. Despite holding Oregon to those two runs, the fewest the Ducks have scored since April 15 in a 4-0 loss at Arizona State, Dung was tagged with the loss. The win moves Oregon to 47-7 on the year, and the team’s 21-3 conference record is just enough to beat out no. 1 UCLA’s 20-4 conference numbers, giving the program its fifth Pac-12 crown in six seasons. After the title, the Ducks await their draw in the Regionals, which will be announced on Sunday, May 13 at 7PM. The Regionals will begin on Friday, May 18.
