SB: Oregon 1 Hits the Defending National Champion Oklahoma Sooners

It was less than a year ago that Oregon’s 2017 season came to an end in Oklahoma City at the hands of the Oklahoma Sooners. Thursday evening’s non-conference bout brought the #2 Oklahoma Sooners in to Eugene for a rematch of last year’s semifinal game. The Ducks shutout the nation’s leading offense en route to a 5-0 victory. Megan Kleist was in the circle for the Ducks and she pitched an absolute gem. Kleist saw the minimum 21 hitters in her 7 innings of work, allowing only two base-runners, 1 via a walk and the other via a controversial error ruling. Nonetheless, Kleist struck out five batters. Oregon scored in nearly inning, excluding the second, fifth, and sixth innings. DJ Sanders and Mary Iakopo each had home runs for the Ducks. After beating the #2 team in the nation, the Ducks will host a non-ranked Stanford (22-20, 2-10) team in a three game series beginning Friday at 6 pm.
