It has been over a year-and-a-half since the UCLA Bruins have visited Jane Sanders Stadium. Their the last visit saw a three-game super regional end in the Bruins’ favor when they outlasted the Ducks, taking two of the three games to advance to the Women’s College World Series. Now, the Bruins pick up where they left off, opening Pac-12 play with a dominant win over the Ducks, 6-1. Bruins starting pitcher, sophomore Rachel Garcia, tossed all seven innings, totaling 16 strikeouts, allowing five hits, two runs and walking three. The Bruins also homered three times, which is one fewer than the amount the Oregon pitching staff has given up all season long. Senior Kylee Perez led the Bruins offensively, accumulating three hits, two runs, and one RBI. Megan Kleist started for the Ducks. She was pulled with one out in the 5th innings after allowing three runs and striking out two batters. The Ducks were trailing 6-0 in the bottom of the seventh when Lauren Lindvall led off the innings hitting a home run to give the Ducks their first run, The Ducks would score one more run in the seventh, but that was it. Ducks host the Bruins in game two of the series on Saturday at 7 P.M.
