Ionescu’s Tenth Career Triple-Double Sends Oregon into NCAA Second Round

The Oregon Women’s Basketball team didn’t need it, but Sabrina Ionescu’s tenth career triple-double stole the show as the Ducks advanced past Seattle University on Friday. Ionescu ended with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists as the no.2 seeded Ducks looked as comfortable as ever in their 2018 NCAA Tournament opener, cruising to 88-45 win over no. 15 seed Seattle University in front of their home crowd at Matthew Knight Arena. Oregon showed no rust after their long layoff, storming out to a 10-0 lead after forcing four turnovers in the opening minutes. The Oregon defense locked down the Redhawks in the first half on their way to a 48-16 advantage at the break. Several other Ducks got in on the fun, with starters Cazorla, Bando and Hebard all reaching double-digit points. Perhaps most important of all, the Ducks got 16 points and 6 rebounds from Oti Gildon, who led the way for the bench that totaled 31 points in the win. Oregon will next take on no. 10 seeded Minnesota on Sunday in the NCAA Tournament’s Second Round.
