SB: Ducks continue to fly high, defeating Weber State and Montana behind Elish, Rhodes, Lilley and Kleist

The Oregon softball team showed its versatility today, winning two very different ball games. Despite struggling through its first three innings yesterday, Oregon softball’s offense was on display in game one, beating Weber State 10-2. In the first half of the doubleheader against Weber State, Jenna Lilley and Shannon Rhodes led the way offensively. Both players scored two runs and hit a home run, with Lilley’s being a three run home run and Rhodes’ being a two run rocket. Miranda Elish was in the circle and finished off the run-rule over Weber State, going all five innings and striking out a career-high 12 batters. The second game was the exact opposite of the first for the Ducks. Megan Kleist and Montana’s Colleen Driscoll traded zeros through the first three innings until the Ducks broke the game open with a three-run fourth inning. Kleist was perfect through five innings and finished with a no-hitter and 12 k’s. Offensively for the Ducks, Rhodes continued her great day, going 3-3, scoring the game’s first run on Mary Iakopo’s two-run triple and hitting getting an rbi single in the fifth helping the Ducks win 6-0. The Ducks will return for another double header tomorrow in a rematch against Montana and a new opponent, Bryant, starting at 12 p.m.
