WBB: Sabrina Ionescu Sets NCAA Record in Victory over Washington

A win over Washington on Saturday was guaranteed to be noteworthy for the Oregon Ducks. With head coach Kelly Graves one win shy of his 500th career victory and the program looking for its first 2-0 start to conference play since the 2009-2010 season, it was Sabrina Ionescu who stole the show with 24 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists to reach her eighth career triple-double, an NCAA career record. The Ducks (13-2, 2-0) kept Washington (6-7, 0-2) at an arm’s length all afternoon long. After erupting to a 27-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, Washington’s offense would come alive but could never completely crack Oregon’s lead. Oregon finished the game with a 94-83 victory, as Ruthy Hebard chipped in her fifth double-double of the year and Satou Sabally continued her impressive freshman season with 13 points.
