Oregon Football Breaks Records in Willie Taggart’s Debut

The Oregon Ducks defeated the visiting Southern Utah Thunderbirds 77-21 in its first game under head coach Willie Taggart. The 77 points marked an Autzen Stadium record, breaking the previous total of 72. Oregon racked up the scores through its dynamic rushing attack, breaking another Autzen record with nine touchdowns on the ground. Sophomore starting quarterback Justin Herbert found success as well, completing 17 of 21 attempts for 281 yards and a touchdown pass to tight end Jacob Breeland. But Tony Brooks-James opened the game with a score of his own, returning the opening kickoff 100 yards to spark Oregon’s electric victory in the 2017 opener. Listen below to game stories and postgame interviews from the Ducks’ explosive opening and dominant ground game in the blowout victory.
