The Oregon Ducks bounced back from Friday’s shutout at the hands of the Arizona Wildcats with seven runs on the offensive side, but Duck pitching yielded 10 Arizona runs en route to a Game 2 and series loss for Oregon. Gwen Svekis mashed two home runs and finished with five RBI and Danica Mercado added a two-run home run of her own, but freshman starting pitcher Maggie Balint was pulled by head coach Mike White before she could record an out in the second inning. Arizona’s Katiyana Mauga hit another home run on Saturday, moving her into first on the Arizona all-time career home run list. The Ducks will try to salvage a game of this three game series on Sunday at noon.
