Oregon Relays Day 2 Update, April 18, 2014

 

The Oregon Relays day 2 came to a close April 18, 2014. Men took first in the Decathlon and Women took second and fifth.

Dakotah Keys dominated the men’s decathlon winning 8 of the 10 events over the two day competition. Dakotah set a new decathlon personal record scoring 8,027 points, which ties him with Craig Brigham for #4 all-time at the University of Oregon. Dakotah felt that his training paid off as he set a new personal record in the 1500 meters, the final event in the decathlon, with a time of 4 minutes 24.21 seconds.

In the Women’s Heptathlon, Oregon’s Daphne Chambers won the shot put with a throw of 13.39 meters and finished 2nd in both the 200 meter dash and 800 meters in times of 23.96 and 2 minutes and 23.93 seconds. Daphne finished in second place overall with a total of 5251 points.
Oregon’s Arthur Delaney ran the fastest 200 meter time of the day in a time of 21.05.
Ashante Horsley of Oregon led the women’s 200 meters in 24.28 seconds, the fastest time of the day. Dual sport athlete Devon Allen won the men’s 400m out of heat 2 with a time of 52.56.
In the Men’s Javelin, Oregon’s Sam Crouser out threw the second place finisher from Washington by 5.6 meters with a winning throw of 75.4 meters, 247.375 ft. Sam Crouser says he has been lifting heavily and was pleased with his performance.

 

The Collegiate Portion of the Oregon Relays will continue Saturday, April 19th at 5:15 at Hayward Field
