KWVA Goes to NAB

From April 6-10, KWVA’s Production Director AJ Untermeyer and Sports Director Joey McMurry attended the National Association of Broadcasters Show in Las Vegas. The annual tradeshow showcases new media technologies and gives broadcasters and engineers a chance to see what tools could be at their disposal.

For KWVA, this convention was a huge opportunity to see what technology is available for the station to use in its new studio. As part of the Erb Memorial Union renovation, KWVA will have an entirely new facility, opening in May of 2016. AJ and Joey were tasked with making the initial assessment of what the station should consider purchasing for the new studio at this year’s NAB.

While at NAB, the guys produced daily video recaps of what technology they saw and what they thought about the different displays.

Day 0

After arriving in Las Vegas, the guys game planned the next three days and discussed what they were most excited to see:

Day 1

On the first full day of NAB, the guys focused on radio technology including audio boards and microphones, and also got a chance to walk the Las Vegas Strip for the first time.

Day 2

On day two, the guys went back and asked more questions to some of the pro audio vendors and then took a stroll through the television production section of the show.

Day 3

On the guys’ final day at NAB, AJ and Joey walked through the online video section and toured some production trucks as they made their way through the rest of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

The guys also documented all of their adventure on twitter with #AJandJoeyGoToNABinVegas
